Taking carpet out of jeep wrangler.

Joined dec 1 2014 32 posts. I would get a gallon of simple green and the garden hose and go at it. I do this by removing the drain plugs on the floor of my jeep and using cleaning products to clean the floor. Carpet can always be added to a painted surface but paint can t be added to a carpeted surface.

Tj was stolen and then a few years after i picked up a yj that did not come with carpet. If you do pull the carpet have some linex put in or do a herculiner. It s a polyester carpet and should clean out completely given enough detergent and water. Take the carpet out.

Open the doors of the jeep and remove the carpet by pulling it away from the floor. I can hose it out real easy i m not worried about getting the carpet muddy or spilling anymore. Just pull the carpet out and hose it down. Some of the carpet is tucked under seats and interior trim so be careful not to pull too hard when removing it.

After rolling around with no carpet for years i would never put any carpet in it. My choice would definitely be to rip the factory carpet out insulate the floor with either dynamat or the duct insulation that people have used and then put in either bedrug or bedtred.
